In October 2019, Telstra announced that it would be shutting down its 3G network in 2024. This means that in just months, 3G devices will no longer be operational and will need to be replaced.
By 2024, 3G will have been in existence for 21 years. There have been tremendous advances and improvements in speed, latency and power consumption with the introduction of 4G, 5G, LTE-M and NB-IoT networks over this period.
Many devices within your organisation may be due for replacement or renewal before the upcoming deadline. With current global supply chain disruptions, chipset delays, and domestic labour shortages, migrating to 4G is something that should be looked into sooner rather than later to ensure business continuity.
